Selecting Your Wedding Photographer

Your wedding photographer is an important part of your wedding day and selecting the right wedding photographer is not an easy task. You should begin looking for a photographer at least 10 to 14 months prior to your wedding, because excellent-experienced wedding photographers, such as those at Windswept Acres Photography, are usually booked a year in advance. When you are interviewing your Maine wedding photographers, ask these questions. We think you'll find them very helpful.

How many Maine weddings have you photographed?
What will it cost to photograph my wedding?
In what year did you get paid to photograph your first wedding?
How many weddings do you photograph each year?
How many years have you been photographing Maine and Hew Hampshire weddings?
Will you double book my wedding day?
Have you taken pictures at my wedding day locations?
How many pictures do you take on the wedding day?
Will you take pictures in Black and White or Sepia?
Is there an extra charge for Black and White pictures?
How many days do I have to wait to see the wedding day photographs?
Do you use a professional camera system? Are you Digital or Film or a Combination?
Which photographer will photograph my wedding and may I see recent examples of his work?
When will my completed wedding album(s) and portraits be ready?
How much are extra services, photographs, folios, albums and frames?
Do you require an assistant? How long will you be at my wedding?
What is your wedding photography philosophy? What is your travel fee?
Can the coverage and collections be customized to my specific needs?
What's your wedding day attire? Do I need to tip my photographer?
Do we need to provide you with a meal and place card?

Don't let anyone who can pick up a camera experiment at your wedding. Amateurs are an industry wide problem and amateurs could ruin your wedding day photography. Every year inexperienced picture enthusiasts and people who have completed a few basic wedding photography classes, buy a new camera and claim to be experienced professionals. No one wants an inexperienced wedding photographer at their wedding but everyone wants great wedding pictures. Don't take chances with your wedding day photographer.
Use the 'Selecting Your Wedding Photographer'questions below to help you separate the experienced wedding professionals from the amateurs with very little or no wedding photography experience.
